I have a feeling the wrap will come off sooner rather than later. I made the mistake of wrapping the pipes some years back. It tends to fray at the front pipe leading edge rather quickly and you get all those lovely asbestos fibers floating around. They increase the heat load on the engine as the pipes get hotter and stay hotter longer and can lead to softening and cracking. I believe a proper set of heat shields will replace the wrap soon. I've got to admit though, wraps look badass.

I fold the first wrap in half and hide the "unfold" behind the pipe... hold it in place with a couple of temp zip ties... then start the 0.032 stainless safety wire wrap... they don't come loose

the wraps were just there to keep blond beach barbie from complaining about the heat... I wasn't worried about the original pipes... i was just waiting for then to fall apart so i could put a stainless Cone Engineering 2:1 on...

I've done a lot of wraps for guys I did one on a street bob that was absolutely killer with copper wire and he had the flat red tank.. I use my safety wire pliers and loom it up...
