Default XR1000 carbs Dellorto

I am just finishing rebuilding an 84 XR1000, and I can find no information on adjusting the low speed mixture. In the manual it says it is factory set and non adjustable, but on stripping and cleaning the carbs there is a adjusting screw, spring, washer and O ring on each carb body at the front same level as the idle adjuster. Anyone have any knowledge or source of info?
Any help much appreciated
cheers
Johnny

Seems I remember something I read about this (factory settings) in Easyrider Magazine. I know they have archives and their own little weird repair manuals.

The screw on the left is the slide lock, the 1 on the right is the atomizer for fuel/air mix. Besides the slide cable the only adjustments. By the way I sold my 84 today 5850 miles. I have a set of parts listing with rebuild instructions and tuning tips I can send your if you need them.
