Thanks guys. I will start it up and take care of some details. Cannot believe I found this beast.
Bigshankhank, I am located down south in Miami, Fl, thanks for your offer to help. As soon as I check everything I will ride it North and contact you to go for a ride.
I had been looking for a good Ironhead mechanic and read a couple of times about Anthony from HIGHWAY CYCLE in Miami, has anybody had any experience with him?
Any idea where to get those light up spark plugs cables???
Thank you guys

1000 barrels (3.188") with a 5" stroke would work out to just under 80"? I'm 74 and could definitely be wrong. There would be a good deal of relieving going on with a 5" stroke + for free you get high piston speed and short little baby pistons. It has got to feel really "Seat of your pants" powerful, if disbelievers of the stroker only knew. It will probably use oil if it really is a 5" stroke, so check it often, it is just part of the deal and oil is cheap. That is pushing the limits of Sportster. Warner Riley used 5" motors at Bonneville.

Quote:
...has 5 in 5 stroke 76"...
Kind of hard to understand what that means, but I don't think it has a 5" stroke. The cylinders appear to be stock Harley. For a stroke that long they would need plates under them and there are none. And the piston at BDC would be pulled too far out the spigot of the stock cylinders.

I think it probably has a 4-5/8 stroke with the .060 over (as stated) 1000 cylinders which makes it 76 cu in. just like the number on the air cleaner.

Some of the workmanship on the bike is impressive. It has some sort of jackshaft as the rear chain doesn't go all the way to the transmission sprocket.

I'm sure you made the old guy proud, knowing that it's a keeper for you.

Beautiful old scoot, lots of creativity and imagination went into that bike, the more you look, the more you see, big and small details alike.

Great find, give the old girl the forever home she deserves!

Lots of time and $ there, the most tasteful customization I think I've ever seen.

nice bike. What are you interested in doing with the bike, or you just want information in general about ironheads. a bike like that is tough for a different mechanic to figure things out because it was built by someone else, if there aren’t any notes about what’s in it, how its wired.. not impossible but just a little more difficult. I see your in Kendall, ironheads hate traffic...if it starts running bad while in traffic, ya gotta get moving and it’ll start running right again...
