Default Convert a muffler for a different bike to an XLH?

Hello guys,

We have some strict noise regulations (95 dB at 3200 RPM) here in Australia and it seems to be impossible to find a stock pipe set for my '82 Ironhead.

In my desperation I was thinking about converting a set of pipes made for another Harley to this Ironhead somehow to meet the local laws.

Just wondering if anyone's ever done it before and what would be the cons of doing such thing.

Thank you!

Steve

Well, yer '82 has some special requirements in that the rear pipe has to clear the rear brake setup. Beyond that you will need to weld a set of Ironhead ends onto the pipes so that can slip onto the exhaust spigot.

Sounds like a good time to build the custom exhaust of yer dreams...

BTW, you will get more responses by posting all Ironhead questions in the section dedicated to Ironheads. Lots of the Ironheaders never leave that forum and may never see yer query anywhere else.
