The worst that can happen with that seal or the primary gasket for that matter is some seepage. I reused my primary gasket about 10 or so times, and sure it seeped some, but not enough to make the level too low so... Replaced it around 2019 just because I was in there and had one.
I was in there a lot chasing noises (fool's game for sure). Now, noise and seepage are like knots in wood to me. Not a blemish, just the beauty of the wood. The bike has a personality that includes shake, rattle and roll, with a little seepage now and then. Extremely dependable though. (Once you throw everything that falls off into a pile in the corner, and get your own hands on every bolt and screw that is.)

For about $10 I guess I'll just get a new one, and call it good. I'm replacing all the other seals, might as well do that one at the same time.
I tried making a PVC hoop clutch spring compressor tool, but it didn't really work very well. I don't think I got the edges flat and straight enough, because I couldn't quite get the spring clip to clear the locking ring. Close, but not quite, and the PVC was buckling a little. Maybe it wasn't pulling at the ideal plumb angle. I ordered a Energy One tool, and will try again once it arrives to pull the frictions and steels for inspection. I'm guessing it still has the grenade plate, and will likely take it out and put in extra steels and a friction plate from my dealer. At 4500 miles, I hope that is all I have to do at this point.

I got the Energy One tool, pulled the clutch pack and measured everything within service spec, except one steel ring which was just at the edge of warpage. Everything else looked fine, so I put it all back together as is. I will live with the potential grenade at least for now. My Spidey sense tells me not to be too concerned about it at this point.
So, it's all cleaned up, inspected, measured, new gasket, o rings, seals, oil, plug, properly torqued, chain adjusted, and not leaking. On to the next thing.

Just keep that steel disc on your maintenance list in the future.

I can send you one if you wish? Good to hear of the progress. Expect to be heading out in March for a month on the road, it’ll be good putting down some serious miles again.
