Just put an Elite 4 on the front of my '09. 110x90x19. Will be getting the rear, 150x80x16, shortly. Probly got a couple thousand left in the current tire. I'm replacing Michelin Commander IIs. Got 19,200 miles from the front Mich. Looks like I'll get about 13,000 from the rear. The C IIs just don't make me comfortable in the wet acceleration & braking department. I'm hoping for better wet traction with the E4s. If I get that & comparable mileage from the E4s, I'll be happy. I'm also keeping an eye on you guys running the American Elites. I get my tires at Iron Pony in Columbus, Ohio. Not a plug, but their tire guy told me the American Elites are designed specifically for American medium/heavy, cruiser/touring bikes in mind (Harley, Indian, Victory) & that the Elites 4s were for all others with similar rim sizes. If my CRS disorder allows, I'll report next spring on how they have worked out for me.

Thanks Brian, maybe a side by side comparison next week?

Sure. Let me know when you'll be here. I'll have a few more miles on it & will be able to comment on how it tracks the grooves & gratings & handles the curves, too. The wiggles on the grooving doesn't bother me, but I know a lot of folks who aren't comfortable with it. It may be some would choose another tread pattern over the E4's design because of it. I'm going out for at least a 100 miler today. Got some honeydos to take care of, then I'm off.

Old thread, but thought I'd follow up on these E 4s. I currently have 18,000 miles on the front 110x90x19 & it looks like it'll be good for another 8 or 10k. Picked up 3 nails in the rear 150x80x16 & replaced it at 6k. The replacement lasted less than 8000 miles. Very disappointing. I just put a Dunlop American Elite on last week, before the East Coast meet & greet. It performed flawlessly on the Cherahola Sky way & the Dragon. We'll see if I can manage the same mileage SportsterPaul has gotten from his American Elites.

BKB :
The Yeller Scooer I rode to see the remnants of the meet and greet has an American Elite 150/80/16 on its rear (put on to go to the 2016 event ) Been on for just over 10k and still looking good. The bike is a pure stock 883 but I do push it kinda hard in the corners.
My ironhead has the same tire on it but it sadly goes only about 12k before hitting the wear bars. I don't normally replace it till I see the air though..

Thanks for the info on your tires. If I can get 12 to 15k from a rear tire, I'm happy. I usually put about that many miles on in a season. I just don't like having to spend the $$ for 2 rear tires in one season, so I'm looking for one that will do that for me. I generally get more than 2 seasons out of a front, but I don't mind buying 2 tires every 3rd year. Just not every year. Was good to meet you at the Iron Horse the other day. Hope you can make the next one.
