Interesting, if I tune to richer mixture, thus lowering temperature, am I going to get catalytic converter fault in long term? I mean some damage like soot deposits build-up.

In America most people go with the power vision and purchase it from Fuel Moto because they will supply a fuel map that matches the hardware you intend to purchase.

Also the price of the PV compared to the FP3 is about the same.

With the FP3 V&H have a database of tunes and you just select the one that is nearest to the hardware you have. They even have a tune for stock hardware to just give a richer mixture.

I am in the UK and the local supplier for PV is about £200 more than a FP3.

I would say a PV is the way to go if you are planning on getting or owning a few bikes as you can purchase just licenses and not the hardware. At present you would need a FP3 for each bike. If you plan on getting the bike dyno tuned again it is probable the dyno guy would want to use a power vision.

If you are going to stick with this one bike and you are only interested in stage 1 or just getting the mixture richer then the FP3 does exactly the same thing as the PV, to write new data to the ECU. Once done you do not need either connected to the bike.

I see you like the look of the stock pipes. Khrome Werks do a tapered muffler that looks the same.

With the mixture set correctly instead of lean should not see a large increase in soot.

Richening that "terrible lean mixture" does help some. The mixtures on modern EFI bikes are lean at part throttle but the bigger issue is their timing tables. Full throttle is the easiest to get right (timing and AFR's) but it's also where you spend the least time. Getting the the part throttle areas right, where you spend the most time, is the most difficult and usually gets the least attention.
