Have run Metz 160 for some time (on second rear due to untimely nail).
Though the tire works with my calm riding style it appears that the tire would be happier with a wider wheel. Is there 16" HD cast wheel with 3.5" or 4.0" rim rather than the 3.0" stock wheel that would fit an '04 without major mods?
Dyna maybe?
Suggestions...?
Thanks

I have used Deuce's rear 17" x 4.5" rim but it needs some mods to the hub to fit 1" I.D. bearings.

An 04 uses 3/4" rear bearings. A Deuce wheel bolts right up to those.

Oh, really? I thought that they have changed rear axle to 1" on 04+
In this case it's an easy fit. I like those wheels. One of the best H-D ever released.

No, that change happened in 2005.

Hi.
Just replaced my rear tyre on a 2005 Sportster 1200 Roadster. The old tyre was Dunlop branded HD , the new one is Avon Cobra Chrome. I've put the original size (150/80/16) the old tyre was wider ...almoust touched the belt guard....almoust. Now with the Avon I have a 5 mm (0.2 inch) gap between the edge of the tyre and the belt guard. I was considering 160 but the tyre shop told me something like two monts delivery date.... Next time will definitely put 160. After 1000 km (about 600 miles) on backroards and mountain roads I can say that Avons are better than original Dunlops, putting aside the tyre being new...Now I am curious how many miles will last....

No men can see the difference between 150mm and 160mm, only women does.

You should see a eye specialist, this may save your life ))
P.S. not all tyres respect the width to the milimeter. For example Avons have tyres with same width (theoretically) but different if you measure them.
Avon Cobra Chrome 150/80 B 16 RF 77V is 157mm wide
Avon Cobra Chrome 150/80 R 16 71V is 152mm wide
Source : https://www.avontyres.com/en-gb/tyres/cobra-chrome
in my case the difference in width was about 1 cm, is clearly visible
