Just trying to get more info here. I don’t know anything about Dixie so I thought I’d ask.

Dixie is an importer not a manufacturer

Can't read the box, was it made in Japan or Taiwan?

Going to the last photo in the eBay link I can see “made in Taiwan”.

That means it’s not worth the risk buying it. You could luck out and end up with something well made that’ll last, or, it could live up to the reputation of “made in Taiwan” the only way to know is to buy it and use it. It’s just not worth it.

Well, here's the thing.

I used to recommend particular brands of many things to people. Basically because there was a time when you could know that one part of brand would be better than another.

But many American companies found they could increase their profits by going "offshore".

And a number of companies were sold to other companies who "sent offshore".

Some, (not mentioning Carillo here) then discovered the Cheating Chinese were making a sh*t product that damaged the company's reputation very badly. And so they pulled production back on shore). Others just didn't care that much.

Are the AP gears you buy better than any others ? Most likely yes. That does not guarantee they will never fail. Abuse by owners is never guaranteed but it happens. Is iy worth paying the extra for the AP gears ?

That's up to you.

I would myself but then I also send mine out to be Isotropic polished. And I change my oil. And I almost always use the clutch when I change gears.

Of course, this is only my opinion and others may disagree.
