In the Midgets we ran them so rich, when they came in hot the unburned fuel in the exhaust would light when it got air at the end of the pipe.

I don't know why but it seems there is more condensate in the crank case and plenty of alcohol in the oil when run like than.

You do need to be careful with the oil. Not all oils are compatible with Methanol. And you will get contamination of the oil. The Methanol also absorbs water from the atmosphere .

It is very forgiving of a rich A/F ratio. You do make more power when things are right but unlike gas if you get too rich the thing still runs. Yes, I've seen raw fuel dripping out of an exhaust.
