Checked my stock mirrors again Saturday. Nothing but a fuzzy blur at 3500. Best I can do is see that something is back there but it could be a Smart Car or a school bus for all I can tell.

Maybe a couple ounces of stick on wheelweights will smooth them out ?

My aftermarket ones that I mentioned above started getting a little more blurry than usual. I tightened them up some more and they are back to normal with good vision while moving, not so good at idle. In order to access the Phillips head screws without changing the adjustment, I had to use a bit rather than a screwdriver and I turned it with a 1/4" combination ratchet wrench (yes, they do make them). I can't remember which auto parts store but it was within the last year or so, probably Advance Auto or Auto Zone. I have different size Phillips head bits, including JIS, so that I don't strip any heads.

I can hold the mirror around the perimeter tightly at speed and it's still fuzzy. Feels like a palm sander. I figured it's just the nature of the beast.

The only one I've had with really usable mirrors was my '83 XVZ12 Venture. And in that case objects were often rapidly getting smaller anyway.

I’ve had great luck with bar-end mirrors, mine are the inexpensive $50/pair, Black, out of the J&P catalog. No blur and very adjustable. The downside is you can’t use inside the handlebar heated grips.
