Thumbs down 04 1200C 40k mi engine failure :(

Well I've been chasing what seemed like a lifter noise... last week it got really loud (I fixed my noise from my clutch basket and primary chain) then the engine lost power and died

I tore down the motor and found 2 bent push rods, front cyl intake cam seized in the engine. exhaust cam's bushing in the block spun, exhaust valve hit the piston and bent it. back cyl exhaust valve hit the piston. the piston skirts are badly scored and there is scorring on the cyl walls.

Oh dude! Sorry man, that looks terrible...... right off the top, something I dealt with a while back, excess oil blow-by caused buildup in the combustion chamber, the valves got restricted, and started beating up the valve train.... just my best given what little I know, but your cyl rings look fried and busted. Lots of oil use prior to this?

That piston top does look VERY wet and since it been a while IMHO that is oil and not gas.

Time for a 1250 kit and head work from your preferred XLForum vendor!

The crank is probably hurt as well as the cases.

Some of that damage looks very similar to what happened to OCGreen's bike.
