Default short shots

I just bought myself a 2015 super low 883. The Harley dealer put a 1200 kit in it (just pistons and rings, not heads) The bike has stock mufflers and stock air cleaner. I am going to put on the Vance and Hines short shots and leave the stock air cleaner but put external breathers on. Question is do I have to get a retune? I am not looking for any more performance. I just want a motor to last without it being too lean. I am a complete computer idiot and don't even have a smart phone as its too hard to figure out (still have the old flip phone) If I do need a tuner it will have to be so simple a poorly trained monkey could use it so suggestions are welcome.

There will be some experts on here but seen as I had the same set up I'll throw my 50p in.

The short shots sound amazing and in my opinion are the best sounding pipes available for the sportster.

All I did beyond fitting the external breather & stage 1 air cleaner was the re-jet.

You can order the jets for the stage 1 kit and very easy to fit (mines is a carb bike).

Plugs are still nice and clean 2k miles later.

Doc, on my '09, I'm currently running a Big Sucker intake with external breathers & stock mufflers that I have removed the stock baffles from & put my own, much less restrictive, home made baffles into. I was running a set of X14IED's but ran into high idle problems after 40 or 50,000 miles, so I removed them. I now have over 100,000 miles & have experienced no lean issues, like excessive heat or decel popping. I think you'll be fine with what you're going to do.

Yes you do. I ran short shots on my 09' nightster with no tune for a couple months. It will run rough with constant decal pop. I recommend if your gonna keep your intake stock, just go with slip-ons. Short shots are really a short open flow exhaust. They are stepped and do have spiral louvered baffled, but so much more open than stock.

How about if I run the quiet baffles and thunder torques? I am putting a Frankenstein kit on and slip ons wont fit

Like stated by BKB, I doubt you'll have a problem. But, since you are adding a Frankenstein kit all bets are off.
So just get a tuner if you find it's not running as well as you like (some can be had cheap with basic adjustments) or just take it in for a dyno tune.
