Joe, you might find that the heat alone will allow you to pull them off without anything else. There is a clear coat underneath that protects the paint. The adhesive cleans up easy.

Took my reflectors off front and back.....using a hair dryer and soaking with WD-40 and then slowly and gradually pry it off with my fingers.,,,,,taking your time and not trying to rip them off in 2 seconds is not what you want to do, once it starts breaking loose, spray some WD-40 between the paint and reflector...get the reflectors fairly warm being careful not to blister the paint...…

i pulled the back end apart again.
bags off, seat off, rear fender off.
i pulled the reflectors off with the fishing string trick.
it was easy took 2 seconds a side.
i did not clean off all the adhesive yet, but i might.
i think my hard mounted sissy bar will cover it all up anyway.

i added a chrome curved lay down licence plate mount.
about to add the touring turn signal bar.
then put it all back together.

Old thread, i want to remove the sissy bar from my 91 sportster but dont want the chrome rails bolted right to the fender. Anyone know if someone makes full length chrome spacers? I thought about washers but there gonna leave a gap and stick out of the top and bottom.
