There is a lot of people who weld and jb weld ports. The jap bikes typically benefit from smaller higher velocity ports, since they're turning much higher rpms then Harley's.. however, because something works in a water cooled high rpm motor, doesn't mean it will work in an air cooled torque monster..

Hmm, never thought of how it could benefit a jap motor, I doubt it would do much for our motors though. Have to make sure the jb weld sets properly because a chunk coming loose would be bad new bears for your motor.

I have seen shops use the JB weld with okay results but I have also seen it break off and get sucked into the engine which can be a very bad thing. At NRHS we only TIG weld if we want to add material. We NEVER use JB weld!

Harley evo heads are very sensitive on the short radius. It is not uncommon to increase the short radius with high temp epoxy when porting. But it has do be done correctly.

that is what NRHS does (especially S&S heads) but we TIG weld them instead of epoxy as I said. I have a very nice pulse welder just for this purpose.

I agree. I like welding a lot better. Especially on these aircooled heads.
Since the exhaust often needs to be welded, why not use the same method on the intake.
