Unless the bike gets to full operating temperature, you aren't doing it any favors.

Put fresh oil in it, charge the battery on a tender, and leave it alone.

I was more impressed at 14.2 at idle, both my Cycle Electric systems on the "rubbers", wont see that until 1,300-1,500 r.p.m. Factory systems won't show that till near 3,500 r.p.m.

No Crank Sensor - They came on 2004-later models & eliminated the visual timing hole. Computer (ECM) programming for timing after that.

Most of us eliminate the Vacuum Petcock by using a manual one - I'm not sure if you meant that or you're planning to put another Vacuum Petcock on it? Of course, you still need a vacuum hose to the VOES (not leaking).

A mangled vacuum petcock can drain fuel down the vacuum hose into the engine at the vacuum port on the carb (above/behind the throttle plate).

By the way, does the bike start without using the enrichener? That's a sign of extra fuel getting thru somewhere. Did you tune the carb? Does the carb have Dynojet parts?

Check out the Sportsterpedia CV40 Tuning page - It identifies Dynojet parts - and explains the workings of the various functions in the carb:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/techtalk:evo:carb02

Someone recently had issues due to the Enrichener cable (sheath) not seating properly.

No, there is a cam position sensor under the nosecone cover.

I was going to buy a vacuum petcock but seems like a simple manual one might be a better choice. less to fail in the future. Dont think it draws fuel down from the petcock as its not running rich. more the opposite. it starts to sputter and then dies when constant throttle is applied when warm or i go downhill enginebreaking then when i apply gas it sputters and dies. It starts right up again within 30 seconds and runs fine at idle then.

It definitely needs enrichner when cold but runs without it after a minute or so idling. Runs in everyway fine until it gets warm and at a constant throttle. id guess 2500-3500 rpm.
Dont want to mess with the carb until i have eliminated other possible causes but have dismantled and cleaned it.

As you already planned, find out the condition of the vacuum hose & other vacuum related items...

After warm up, can you create this issue while parked & raising the engine speed to 2500-3500 rpms?

Since you're convinced it is heat related, you might try getting some cold spray to cool down the coil after the problem occurs to see if that changes the problem --- or opening the nosecone (round cover with rivets) to see if cooling that (with cold spray) affects the problem...

Let us know the results of those efforts...
