Check your ride height with spring, then your sag. From there work on your compression adjustments and/or valving.

Just waiting on a different spring then will be doing what you suggest once it's fitted.

I think the oil leak I mentioned is primary oil leaking under where the starter plate attaches to the left case hump. Noticed oil on top of case under the Techcycle starter. Drained primary oil and it was 3oz down. So losing approx an oz every hundred miles. Refilled primary with fresh oil, cleaned up oil on case then stuffed a shop rag under starter. Went for a 30 mile ride - no oil on left side of swingarm etc any more and the rag had soaked up a fair bit of fresh oil. Will investigate more tomorrow.
Paul

An update on how things are going:
Pretty good overall. Did all the measurements for rider sag etc and now have the USD forks set up properly, love that the preload & rebound can be adjusted so easily in place on the bike. Waiting on a stiffer spring for the monoshock but it's fine for now as is.
Oil pressure switch broke so had to change that out. Speedo broke too. Am going to a front wheel drive cable driven speedo. Had enough of the electronic digital ones - the one on my 76 broke a while ago, unfortunately after I had bought the one for this bike or I wouldn't have. My theory is they are too sensitive for the vibration of an IH so break easily. I'll stick to cable drives on both bikes now.
Figured out the bad oil leak - it was coming from the middle of the underside of the techcycle starter plate. To fit the techcycle starter i had to trim some material from the bottom of the OEM gasket and seems it then wasn't up to the job. Made my own gasket from 1.5mm cork sheet gasket material. Used the OEM one as a template for most of it but new one is a bit meatier underneath and still clears things. Leak now stopped so all good.
Have got 600 miles on it now so time to tighten up the head bolts while the tank is off to sort out wiring for the new speedo telltale lights.
Today went for my first longer ride. Needed to get a cable made up for the new speedo, plus a couple of other cables for my 76. Went up to Carrrot Cycles in Lincoln & they did them while I waited. 150 mile round trip and all went well:

Hopefully the shakedown period is almost finished
Paul
