Default That question again ....sorry😃 (883 -> 1200 ECM)

Evening all.
I know you definitely have had this posted before but I can't find it.
When I get my 1200 jugs on my 2004 883 is it worth fitting the 1200 SE street 7000rpm ECM I have kicking about to my bike or just use the one already fitted. Carb is fitted with a dynajet kit and one of those kinetic air cleaners, pipes are wrapped LAF leaf blowers with lollypops and everything else standard. Will the Screaming Eagle make that much difference? 7000 rpm on a Sportster seems a bit much to me.
I can remember reading on here a good post about an SE ECM v one of those programmable ones but as I have a standard 883 ECM and the 1200 SE 7000rpm already which one would best.

Typically, 1200 modules work better on 1200 engines because the curves are set for a less agressive advance (compared to the 883)...

Just because the Rev Limit allows 7000 RPMs, does not mean you need to go there... Just be careful of your shift point in the lower gears...

The TC88A is a typical programmable module (set by switch or computer) to be used on the 2004-2006 engines.

So ditch the 883 magic box and fit the Screaming Eagle one and watch my RPM in low gear? Is the SE 1200 one an improvement over a stock 1200 ECM? Thanks for links

Besides a simple 884>1200 upgrade, are you modifying other aspects of the engine? Heads, cams, etc. If so, you're likely to be better served by getting the TC88A module where the spark timing can be adjusted.

Those ignitions were made to have a SE package: Air Cleaner and Exhaust. I had to buy one when I bought my 2004 when new. I ordered the Air Cleaner and the SE exhaust slip on, aka Cycle Shack, and the dealer told me if I want my warranty, I had to have that SE ICM. The bike was quick but, I did go with a 536 and open heads mod. Never touch the ICM and purr-fect. The 7000 rpm limit was nice to have.

Got 2 numbers mate, first one has 1200 street 7000rpm 32406-04 03214 and the second has 31760-04,31763-04,3165-04, 31784-04, 31785-04 C.A.R.B D-338-44 on it. The only mods I may do later are a 42mms carb and different pipes. But for the moment of she runs ok with the combination of the SE ECM, carb and pipes I will leave it alone.

I still got my SE 2 Pipes and air cleaner in the shed. Those pipes way as much as much as another bike😂 Thanks for info
