Paint exhaust headers?
If I sandblast the headers and paint with rattle can bbq flat black, will it hold up on previous chromed.
Is there a better option to bbq paint, as in higher heat range?

Yes, I used some stove paint (Rustoleum High Heat) I got at Home Depot, did not even sand the heat shields, looks amazing IMO. Plus, the paint does not have any tendency to run, goes on smooth. No signs of peeling or bubbling, been over a year now looks like freshly painted.

Get the stuff from Jegs or Summit Racing. It's made for automotive headers & will hold up better. Follow the instructions on the can, as to prep & application & curing. Used the stuff from Jegs on my MG Midget headers. Worked well for over 100,000 miles. Don't recall the brand name, tho.

Instead of sandblasting, that will unstuck chrome and start peeling problem, use a 120 sand paper to scuff it.
Use a good high heat barbecue paint and good to go.

I thought it would be better to remove chrome?
So I can just etch with sand paper?
Thought stuff doesn't adhere well to chrome?

Mine seems to. I did not want to scuff up the heat shields in case I ever wanted to restore them. I cleaned them good with 91% alcohol, paint seems to have adhered fine. YMMV.
