Off topic: anyone have a Buell Blast?
Thinking of picking one up for cheap secondary transportation.
Was it bad or people just didn't like them?
Tell me your thoughts if you have had one.
I had a tired 96 Suzuki dr650, is this about what to expect as for power comparing to a Buell Blast?

Yea I,ve got one. Put 20,000 miles on it in a year and a half ridin to work. Got between 65-68 mpg. Most uncomfortable thing I have ever ridden. And I've been riding hardtails for the past 46 years. It will do 60 mph and not a penny more. Not user friendly as far as maintenance go's. The "choke" is automatic and heat activated. In 15 degree weather it won't shut off. Tires were one maker only and last maybe 3000 miles. Never left me stranded tho'.

The automatic heat activated enrichment is enough information for me to not get one, thanks for the info!
Had this system on a vespa scooter, not putting up with that garbage again.
I guess I could change carb, if desperate, but the enrichment probably is tyed into the ignition. Guess I could change that to, but why bother.
Guess I will just look for something more like a Suzuki gs500

Just for the record; my ex-wife bought a Blast back in 2000 and rode it all over New England without any problem. It got passed on to her daughter who rode it from Massachusetts to Wisconsin for the Buell 25th Anniversary and had no problems with it and we were running 70 - 75 MPH on several highways, including the NY Thruway.
I did have to replace a broken exhaust stud in the head a couple of months after that, but it ran well, winter and summer. The auto choke never gave us any problems. It would use a half quart of oil every 2,000 miles which was when I did oil changes.
If you're tall, it will be cramped, even with the taller seat.
When my Ex first got the bike, we did a 100 mile ride in December and the temps were in the mid-20s. Half way through the ride, while sitting at a red light, she said, "This bike is appropriately named!"
Hating all Blasts because one person got a bad one is like hating all Sportsters for the same reason.
