Default Improvements on 1200R between 04-08

Aside fro carbs to fuel injectors what got improved
I’ve had 4 1200Rs and all were carbs and so reliable

Other than any general model changes common to all sportsters (e.g. helical gears in 2006, FI in 2007, etc), I think the only major change to the 1200R's was in 2008 when they went with the 4.5 gallon tank with a different paint/decal scheme. Also I think in 2006 or 2007 they started offering a blacked out engine.

A relatively minor change in 08 was the move to 25mm axles...but a plus for me as it made a 16+ 18" Roadster rear wheel a direct swap and I'm one of the few that prefers the 4.5 g tank on the 08 Roadster. The EFI has been trouble free so far. Was going to buy a 16+ Roadster but instead picked up a clean low mileage 08 and threw some $$$ at it and am happy with the result.
