picking the tech head at Andrews over the phone,, this past Tuesday,,more compression,, on the y,s cams,, more compression on the r 5, at least at the minunum 160 psi cranking pressure and above, too make them work,, which u guys already knew,,,,,asked him about my sifton 202 hustlers,, he said too big for my 1000cc stocker,, cranking pressure 135 to140 on mine cold,,,, he said I would get more cranking pressure with pb+ he was dead set on the pb+ for a stocker,, made a lot of good points and I agreed,,he stayed on the phone with me for an hour he was a real abc dude,,,but I like my siftons and voes and ult iggy ,,and my gearing ,,he said I had good valid points, for my siftons,,he said I got more top end,, but the pb+ fill up the cylinder,s faster,,,not much overlap compared to my siftons ,, if my cams ever take a chit,, I go pb+,,, oh well real nice guy,, ride on,,,,roll hard,,,

Hi Yukon, I can't seem to find the cams - must be in my other storage location. I'll take a look, but may take some time sorry.

If you find those and they will fit a ‘74, I might be interested.

Years ago when I was racing I built several 900 & 1000 motors for guys and we tried alot of different kinds of cams including PB+ and none of them were really any better than a good old set of stock P cams! Most all the aftermarket cams moved the power range up and killed the low and mid range torque.Strokers were a different story. Your mileage may vary?

Wow, very impressive! I wasn't aware of anyone in recent history doing all this kind of testing! Thanks for sharing all that info. I was very interested in the same stuff years ago. Harley had some small diameter interconnected duals back in the 60's that I thought worked very well, and everybody took them off and put straight pipes on that didn't work well. I remember one bike that had big straight pipes and an early S&S carb that had reversion so bad it was untuneable.

I have to toss in my 2 cents whatever that's worth. First cubic inches rule. That said any stock engine out there has room for increased performance. An internal combustion engine is basically an air pump. It has to breath. Send your heads to a professional for porting, big valves and good cut. Get a good carb, if fuel injected get a programmer. Get a quality exhaust system. I have had great results with 2 into 1. If you have already done all that and you're after more performance you can get a bit more with cams or a lot more with stroker flywheels and bigger cams.
I picked up a 69 basket case several months back and an 83 just recently. Reason for updating post is both engines had non factory cams. The 69 has HD PB cams and the 83 has Andrews PB+. Sadly both had eaten the cam shims.
