Try lubing the cable. A portion of maintenance that is often ovelooked.

"How can I tell if its a got a stiffer diaphragm spring in stalled?" I don't remember if there is a part number on the factory diaphragm. Maybe another member would know. A number of folks here have upgraded their clutches. I had mine apart three years ago to eliminate the spring plate (in the middle of the clutch pack) before it became an issue.
