I don't ride with an air-hawk myself unless going cross country. I like to ride hard and when shifting weight it feels funny to me. Now on the long long adventure of the slab I use one, keeps me from becoming a numb ass...
The air-hawk is a great way to make the seat much more comfortable for long periods but if it is too narrow to start with, I think your best bet is to find a seat with a bit more width for her and something you can live with in the looks dept.
I just bought and sold the ones I had gotten, Ebay and Craigslist are your friend.

I do still have my badlander as a backup seat just in case I pour gas on this one and kill it like half a dozen other over the years..

Another vote for the Mustang Seats.. If you want comfort for your passenger there is nothing better. my wife will agree
