Default Question about dynamic timing a 2000i

I am going to dynamically time my single fire dyna 2000i and the instructions say to ground the VOES and put all dip switches to off. Run bike at 1500 rpm
What is the purpose of grounding the VOES ?
Doesn't it ground by the vacuum created while the bike is running? If so, why is it needed or suggested?

with the wire grounded, it forces the module to reach full adv at 1500 rpm, of note, you have to be above 1500 for the mark to fully be in the position of full adv. yes, it will adv on its own when started but this procedure makes it happen regardless of what the eng is telling it to do.
one? are you not suppose to select what curve you want as they have diff adv set points. or are you just wanting base timing?

Yes you are supposed to select a curve. I did select curve 4. I wanted to time it dynamically so I could verify advance timing 2 dots according to the FSM is all..
I had to use a mirror cause I can't really see the timing hole with the current head pipe.
I may have to R&R the factory head pipe to be able to do it 100%. Something I have been avoiding..

You said"

Question:
If the module isn't grounded but connected to the VOES that will not have the full advance by 1500 rpm? Just wondering because I don't think the FSM actually says to ground the module only to confirm the VOES is working according to specifications prior to the dynamic timing procedure. However, I could be in error haven't read it in a while.

When I dynamically timed the 2000i, the instructions said to place all switches in the off position. I placed all the switches to off except the one that places the module in single fire mode (switch 6). Was I correct to leave that switch alone?
