91+ Foot Peg Mounts on 86 - 90 frame
I'm trying to find some pegs for my 87 that are a bit more motocross style.
There are many available, but they all seem to use the the later syle male mount system. Kuryakyn has an adapter, but it's the taper mount system, and all their pegs I like use the spline adaper system.
My 87 has the female peg / bullet mounts.
I bought the $50 adapters from LA Choppers, but they make the pegs too floppy and too far out.
I've had no luck searching here and elsewhere for a solution.
Looking at Ronnies parts diagrams, it looks like the right side mount can just change to the 91 + style.
Edit - No luck - sprocket cover part number suffix changes to 91A. Dang!!! $$$$
The left side is very different though. 86 - 90 has the peg mount to an arm attached to a stud that goes through the side cover. What genius came up with that???
91+ has the peg mount to an arm that looks like it's bolted to the frame (?). WAY better!
Hmmm the picture of the mid control kit at Sportyparts look like the arm bolts to the side cover. DANG!!!
Does anyone know if the 91+ mount can be used on the earlier bikes? I don't have one to look at.
It seems like just taking the early syle arm off the stud and putting a spacer and bolt on it would be enough to 'retire' the old mount. Ideas?
I read somewhere that pegs for asian bikes might work, but that was the only info. Does anyone have more details about that?
Thanks!
