I had an extra primary cover floating around, so I painted it and when I went in for my 1k service (at 1800.. oops..) I had the guys swap it out. I also have my sobriety date painted on my air cleaner.

My previous Sportster featured the circled triangle and several of the classic AA sayings (First Things First, Easy Does It, etc) displayed prominently on the bike's windshield. Personally, I don't care who knows I'm a recovering individual, so long as I don't forget. Anyway, back then, the 5th Chapter M.C. patch that I wore on my back was as much a giveaway.
I will be putting sober identification on my current Sportster as well.

My Can Am RT-S has the circled triangle right below the license plate, I have had people approach me about it, all where also FOB.
My 83 sporty had one on the air cleaner, but it won't go on the cv carb. Need to toss one on the ignition cover.

I always wondered what those symbols were.

A little backstory

Alcoholics Anonymous dropped the circle in a triangle logo after a period of losing control of it. Other 12 step fellowships had adopted it, too, and since it had become more universal rather than solely regarding alcoholism, they decided, with consensus, to drop it from the organization. A lot of members still run it for sentimental reasons and the simple communication it provides, but a few of the folks that display it may not identify as alcoholic these days. We all know that we're powerless over something that was making us screwy, though.

That copyright situation goes back longer than I have been sober. NA uses a diamond in a circle, AA the triangle/circle, alanon a triangle with a circle in it. I see these decals for sale everywhere AA stuff is sold, Alano clubs, meetings, conventions, online, etc. None of the places I have been found anything confusing. It's still on quite a few tokens too.
I guess it's officially unofficial.

It is officially unofficial. None of those tokens, decals, medallions and the like are issued by AA, even though they're sold at some meetings (none I attend, though). Meetings here pretty much stick to selling conference-approved literature and that's it. We order medallions for anniversaries through a vendor, because AA itself doesn't offer them for sale. They dropped using the symbol officially rather than try to go after all the people selling stuff with their logo on it.

It's OK, too much "official" stuff strains the traditions.
Even the tokens sold at Dr. Bob's house have the circle/triangle.
