The example of a Sugar Bear Springer is the option without a spring seat. Those short hardtailed bike need some springs in the right place mainly under your butt.

Other works that are inspirational ... I find a lot to be inspired by here ... again these are just examples of some of the shapes and mechanical engineering methods that are inspiring some of the design aspects of this modo sickle I'm putting together.
More than likely I'll start out with something similar to this. I'll probably go with an 883 to begin with with the intention of uprating with some of Hammer's goodies later on. I'll start with struts on the ass end for a few weeks before I go to hatchet, axe, and saw. Who knows, I may opt out of the rigid frame.
This red one also provides inspiration. Salt flat bike it looks to be. Friggin bicycle with a knuck! Really love the color/finish of the raw alloy components on the engine. Just so you fellas know, while I find the "look" of a spool up front appealing and racey looking, I am a huge giant pussy and I must have a front brake. I've already broken over a dozen bones (crashing/races) and been shot 3x ... I don't need zero front brake. I don't feel any need to look tough or go around swingin weener. Just lookin to ride Officer (winky winky).
Lastly, more inspiration found here. I have always loved the look of unfinished aluminum and rather "shadetree shop" solutions. Lots to look at and draw from on this'n. However all wrong front end (well, sortof) and the handlebars are too low.. just sayin'. I do like having my feet under my ass, so the footpeg location looks right. From what some of you have mentioned that peg location is best for hardtails so you can stand up on the pegs a little when you're going to hit a pothole or bump. After 20+ years of desert/dirt track/MX racing I'm thinking that action will come quite naturally once I spend some time on the bike.
Maybe these pictures will give folks a better idea of what I'm up to. Not a chopper. No springer. Not really any kind of "er" ... bobb-er, chop-er, track-er, spring-er, cruis-er. It's simply my take on a Sportster (woops, there's that ~er~ goin on again!).
An overweight sport bike that was never intended for actual competition, but rather the "most sporty" of the HD lineup ... that I'm making "sporty" as I see that word applied to these motorcycles.

one of my bikes has a Gradwegfederung (Plunger ? ) didn´t find the US-Word,
if you hit a hole on the street you feel it in every bone and you thing you and the bike fell apart.

Nice machine,cal43...M72 usually have their ,,suspension" set for heavy loads/sidecar use...riding solo will be almost like a hardtail.I have an Awo touren with plunger. In USA ,I think Indian have had plunger suspension.

If you could pan left or right, you’d see tons of them.
Unless your real picky and need asphalt.

When you first posted pictures of your bike in this thread, only ~one~ showed up and it was massively big. Now I can see it, man oh man that is one beautiful motorcycle!!!
EDIT: Is that seat called a Pecker Pincher? It should be!

the seat is quite comfortable and much better than the org rubberseat with the weak springs.
For the suspension the M72 and R51, R71 has no different springs for solo or sidecar.
