Default Team Elves - Land Speed Record team

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce to you the Team Elves - Buell Land Speed record team and to announce The XL Forum support of the same.

Team Elves is a group of Buell and Sportster enthusiasts that beginning in 2000 took it upon themselves to take back a Bonneville record that had been "stolen" from a Sportster in 1999 by a Moto guzzi mailing list team in the modified class.

The first year Team Elves used a Buell owned by Aaron Wilson from NRHS Performance and raised money for the team by selling t-shirts and putting people's names on the bike. The funds raised went towards motor build up, bodywork, paid entry fees into the LSR competitions, and so forth. None of the funds were ever used for food, partying, or travel expenses.

Team Elves is a "for fun only - not for profit team".

Well, to make a long story short, Team Elves was a GREAT success and not only took one, but FOUR land speed records.

Team Elves consists of many people and supporters such as, Aaron Wilson and the NRHS Performance gang, Ron Dickey from Axtell DynoMaster Performance Products, Cycle-Rama, American Sport Bike, High Country Harley-Davidson, and Salt-Away, just to name a few.

The reason I bring all this up is that Team Elves is now gearing up for the 2006 season and will be supporting Fireman "Jim" Higgins as he pilots for Team Elves this year in the great "Land Down Under" the Mecca of salt racing.

So there you have it and this is just the beginning.

I urge you to check out the Team Elves website at www.teamelves.com and support them when t-shirt sales, or other fund raising events are announced.

I am SO pumped up about being just a tiny part of this that I have created this new TEAM ELVES forum category where the team members can keep us all up-to-date on the progress and accomplishments of the team.

Just think, this could be your chance to be a part of Buell and Sportster history!

Gooood morning!

Our very own area to discuss TEAM ELVES and the prusuit of the world's fastest Buell. How cool is this going to be?

I'm gonna sit over here in the corner and wait while the rest of the crowd finds this place. I've a feeling, with all the neat things on the horizon for Buell racing, that it won't be long before the discussion gets interesting.

Thanks, right up front, to the nice folks and administration . . . . I'm looking forward to learning and seeing some hyper-fast Buells duke it out!

Welcome Court!!!

For those of you who don't know him, he's a Buell fanatic from way back, and former Buell employee. I blame him for me purchasing my first Buell, would not have done it but for him. He's become a close friend in the years since then.

We started this Team Elves thing in 2000, and railroaded Court into being the team leader and moral compass

With the support of LOTS of people and businesses, we set a number of records in the first few years of the team's formation. The team has been dormant for a year or two, but recently revived to help that no good s.o.b. Fireman Jim Higgins take the "World's Fastest Buell" title away from the person who truly deserves it

(said with tongue firmly in cheek, as I think the world of the Fireman)

In any event, I suspect we'll have a press release/announcement before too long and peddle a few t-shirts and the like to help out Jim.

Team Elves is and has always been totally non-profit, the funds we raise go entirely toward helping Buell racers, specifically land speed racers.

Big big thanks to Bert, too, for giving us this space to make announcements and peddle our wares.

Will anyone be updating the Team Elves site for 2006? I was going to send some money and buy some merchandise, but I was a little scared by the financials being from 2000, and the merchandise being all from 2000 & 2001. I know the team was dormant for a couple years, but is somebody working on reviving the website as well as the effort?
