at the German Italian P.O.W. Cemetery 6 miles from my home,
these brave men died in captivity during WW2........including a German Brig. General.

Walking these hallowed grounds truly reminds one of how spoiled we've become.

in front of the monument for a friend that was killed inside the Pentagon in the 9/11/01 terrorist attack.

months after it happened he was identified by DNA taken from a piece of hard-pallette with 2 teeth still attached.....
that was all that was found of him, he was in the front section / first section struck by the jet.

God Bless you Fish !!

EDIT: YES I know I have an unhealthy cemetery fetish........but it's where 95% of my friends and relatives are..........

cemetaries... in particular military ones...
tell us stories...
stories that any educated man should be learn...
in this way some errors happened in the past, most likely, will never happen

Since I joined Find-a-Grave, I have developed an affinity for the 'bone orchards'. Being a volunteer gives me a reason to ride my bike and exercise, which I need. I enjoy searching for monuments, helping people get photos of family, friends and War Heroes.

Men died in battle protecting this Confederate Iron Furnace in 1864 and attempting to stop the Federal forces from crossing the river to get here.
This is the Janney Iron Furnace.....and i'm currently looking for the "Ten Islands Cemetery" where most of the casualties are buried......some are in a previous photo in my towns cemetery, and i've been to Ten Islands Cem. before, but can't for the life of me remember how to get there........i'll find it soon.

+/- 15 miles from my front door.....

Confederate Memorial Park.....

My grandmother was a "southern belle" born in SC and lived most of her life after 40 in MD. Seems ironic, that her resting place is in a Union Cemetery.
