Default ‘67 front drum with ‘70-‘72 front steel wheel?

I’m wondering if it’s possible to fit a ‘70-‘72 front deep drop center chrome steel rim (43004-70) to a pre ‘70 full width drum? I’m assuming my current rim is the pre ‘70 iteration (43004-64), but I’m not 100% sure. Per my research it seems the ‘64-‘72 front drums/hubs are the same? If they are, I should/hope to be good to go once I get the right deep drop center spokes, but wanted to check in before pulling the trigger on a local ‘70-‘72 rim.

From what I find the 43004-70 rim is 18 inch. If you get the spokes for it the drum should work. You will need a new tire of course.

Good catch Sungod, blooper on my end. I’m looking to keep it 19” so part number would start with 43002 instead of 43004.

Thanks for clarifying that. I wasn't sure if there were updates along the way with different spoke spacing etc. on the drum/hub. It seems like I ought to be good to go.

the rim you have pictured looks like the dropped center rim.the spokes you have might work.

I think you’re right. I wrongly assumed these were pre ‘70 rims since the bike is a ‘67. I got my computer out and compared some pics and the rim does look like the ‘70-‘72 deep drop center. Thanks for pointing that out.

If this is on your new acquisition a spool would seem more appropriate...

I know….

I’m a real sucker for those. Spool and a slick would be great, but I can’t bring myself to change anything on it.
