lol, thanks but I'll hang on to it a while. I've got a lot of work to do still on it. Wheel swap and powdercoating, new fenders and tank w/ paint, chop the cam and sprocket covers, seat, bars/risers, rebuild the forks lol. Seems the motor was the only part on the bike not messed up. I cant for some reason post a pic here. Once I get it finished I'll find a way.

Since it's a high performance engine build. If you have to chop the cam cover, do it accordingly (save the rear dowel pin)

That would be a mistake!! they are part of the strength and rigidity of your cases...with an 88 you need that strength...some people might say NAH...but trust me,you don't want to weaken the integrity of it all.

I have to agree with this. I got a second hand S&S billet cam cover for mine for this reason along with the bearings, as well as a billet trap door. Both were unused second hand, I trawled ebay for a fair few months before I managed to get both seperately for a good price. Strong is good.

Know what?, I agree 100%. I've done it to every Sporty I've had, but those were all 1200-1250's. This thing is a new monster to me so I'll have to adjust my thinking. Been kicking around going chain drive too while it's apart. Thanks for the heads up.

I wondered every now and again if Sheila's 88 o4 rubber was still running. There are pics of it on the Front page of the forum. Just go to members rides etc. IN FACT, she had a bobtail fender like yours hers was black.

I've had an 88 incher for 20 years, you'll love it. Mine makes 116 HP and 105 tq. You scored a $5000.00 engine with the labor and parts included. Good job !!!!!!!!!!!!!
