Folkie I was expecting some sort of round filter under that round cover, I was hoping to use the stock cover over a K&N round filter.

Not going to happen, will have to buy the Screaming Eagle filter and the next to stock looking bobber cover to get that look, but the performance of a large round filter.

Kinda bummed over that.

Doesn't the stock cover fit on the SE backplate (# 29000009A or 29000019A)?

I would think that it would, since there are several round covers available that fit both the stock and SE backplates.

I would think that it would, since there are several round covers available that fit both the stock and SE backplates.
I bought the Screaming eagle round intake today, got home and took the stock system off. The round cover that fits in a groove of the stock system has a rubber gaskety thing on it. Once I had the new SE system on I took a fiber washer and put it behind the stock cover and screwed it right on. Now I have the look of the stock intake I wanted, well sort of The backing plate does not mate up to cover anymore but it it did it would restrict the air flow.
I fired it up and noticed a significant difference in the bark of the bike, as if it was able to receive a lot more air. took it for a ride and noticed a improvement in bottom end torque. I had complained it felt like taking off in second gear now it has a jump to it, very nice.
I took a ride and noticed that Torque is improved but HP still seems to be choked out by the stock mufflers, that I will change next week when putting on the new mufflers, still trying to decide between short shots and grenades though. I am worried about those grenades being so short they lose a bit of low end torque.
But they look great. Anyway I have to decide as I need to put them on and get a dyno tune Saturday, appointment already set up. (tapping fingers on desk) yeah need to give them an answer tomorrow about which ones to pull out for me.

Forcewinder...

I do prefer the look of the HamCan over the round one though.

Old poll, I know ...

I went with the Arlen Ness Big Sucker stage 1 and a V-Twin Manufacturing round cover on my '88. I like the "vintage-ish" look it brings.
