It could

I do not see that happening, looking at the current flat track results

However, the market the street fighter will enter is not about competition,, it is about being a hooligan, and I have yet to see the Adventure bikes line up, those are about just going out and exploring places a street bike has trouble getting. Now in spirit, that is Harley's market. Outlaws and explorers, or those who want to emulate either.

My draw to HD is about not meeting the nicest people on a Honda. I have never been one of those nicest people. Not that I see myself as a badass, nor do a POSE as a bad ass, I am just an individual who lives to ride.

These new bikes excite me. I will be probably laying money out for a street fighter.

The move HD is making I can not see as competitive on these models, now a flat track knock off, that will be where you will want to look for competition.

Ha ha sure anything CAN happen... And I do truly hope these bikes are competitive.

But as much as an optimist as I am... I'm not completely on drugs...

But hey, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do.

To me the key of this whole debate is when Harley says, "MORE ROADS TO H-D".
If Sportsters were going away soon they should say "NEW ROADS TO H-D".

I get the distinct impression Harley is looking at EXPANDING it choices in the market, not changing or replacing choices.

I was at my local Harley dealer yesterday and asked "How come you don't have any Sportsters on your show room floor?" They said they have been sending them to other dealerships because of the demand for them. Other dealers are also taking as many used Sporty's as they can get, too. My dealer had one Sporty, a 2001 883 and said it should be gone by the end of the week. He also said that he doesn't think the Sportster will change much in the near future because they are such a well rounded, traditional bike and demand is always there for them. Well I hope so.
