Average age of the Ironhead forum users
I am curious as to what the age of the majority of Ironheaders is at this site.
I know that some are old and decrepit and can name a few like myself.
Is owning the Iron more a nostalgic trend or simply because for the most part it is what we are familiar with, or because it is what we know and love?
I am 61 and there is just something sexy about an Ironhead, probably a little nostalgic as well because it is what I grew up with riding and owning, so I know and love them.
At times they can try our patience and frustrate us but can stay with us for our entire lives if treated with respect and love.
I have been through 5 wives but still own the motor for my first Sportster.

I'm 62, but still have my first wife... I've had my Ironhead for 25 years, my wife for 42. Started out in 1966 with a Honda Sport 50, and have owned many different bikes over the years - Hondas, Yamahas, Triumphs, a Hodaka, various motocross racers, etc. I've had my old Honda 350 for 46 years, got it new in 1969 in high school...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.

5 wives, damn!!! anyway, 2nd wife here (and last) i'm 41. not sure what exactly drew me to ironheads, i originally wanted a late 90s superglide for a first bike. then while stationed at lejeune, i went into a shop called chopperhead and saw an early 70's xlch in a hard tail frame with a springer and knew that i'd have one of those someday. that was sometime in '99 or 2000, took a long time before i could afford one.

I'm 31...grew up on Hondas but when I finally decided to make the transition to the Harley family I spent a long time finding the right project bike. I loved the idea of a classic, the older the better. For me it's a lot about culture and history, my 73 xlch satisfied all my my wants and needs, this forum also factored into the equation what information is out there etc...

I'm 54, had my IH since 91 & been married just once, since 90.
Wanted a Sportster & nearly bought what was then a 'new fangled' EVO one but decided I prefered the IHs, not really sure why, mainly the look & sound of the motors. Can't imagine ever getting shot of it now, it's part of me.

I'm 46. Just gave the third wife her walking papers last December and have no intentions of a 4th I started riding Sportsters in the mid 1980's when I began work on a '72 xlh basket I traded a local mechanic for labor in his shop. I did anything and everything he didn't want to do and in return I got the basket and he instructed during its reconstruction Had the '72 for a few years and then picked up a new '88 xl1200. Eventually sold the '72 after about 12 years and kept the '88 for about 20 years.
Picked up a basket '69xlh and a '75xlh roller about 4 years ago. Worked on both and eventually sold the '75 and am now riding the '69. Going to keep the '69 - it's my birth year Sportster! I also have a 2008 1200L for more reliable rides concerning long distance and highway speed.

Maybe the mods can turn this into a poll? I'm 47. Always wanted a kick start ch since I was a kid. Just Life, wife and kids got in the way. So it took till 2009 to get one thanks to bro in laws divorce. Then it took 2 years and finding this forum to get it reliable. Now I'm addicted......

Born in1952, I'm 63. I still have these 2.
I've had the Sporty since 75 and the Superglide since 77. Many bikes, Sporties and Shovels since, but I've kept these two.
Oh yea, wife #1, 35 years, not quite broke in yet.

I would love to see this as a poll, as some members may not want to publicly reveal their age.
But I like the comments as well!
I guess I just love weddings, or women........... or both!

Revealing my age doesn't bother me at all. I'm proud to be in my 60's and still able to swing a leg over my Ironhead and take off!
