You can keep trying!
One day at a time is what worked for me. The concept is that everyone has gone 24 hours without a drink or other drug at some point, so we know that we are capable of that.
Fellowship meeting were very helpful to me in the beginning, because I had the goal of attending meeting sober, then I didn’t feel the desire to use after a meeting.
It’s a lot tougher to find a meeting right now. There are online meetings, some outdoor meetings.
I will listen to speakers on you tube. Look up AA speaker and/or NA Speaker.
There is also lots of literature online for AA and NA.
Some people never participate in a fellowship... whatever works for you/them...

Yes, I´ve just been eight months dry.
I don´t even think about it while on deployment... strange think is I start drinking as soon as I am at the Airport on my way home.....
Maybe I am not capable of adjusting at "normal" life.... I dunno.... it is all in my head, I know for sure it is not physical, it is
psychological... maybe I am gone nuts!!!!.

Work the steps. Prayer and meditation, the actions of working the steps and the fellowship of the AA community can help you do it. Read the true stories of others in the back of the big book.
The short course on the way to get sober can be found in 3 words, the first 3 words on page 112 of the Big Book.
