Collision avoidance. Theres an oxymoron. Ever watch a truck backing up to a dock and slamming into it repeatedly and uncontrollably? At least he wasn't on the highway.

Funny the first ABS systems were touted to be performance enhancers in auto racing. So that the guys could brake later for the turns and not slid out. On motorcycles they were advertised as a safety feature. Just that little bit of definition causes a lot of heart ache.
Just wondering if you know how ABS works. When it engages, and why?
There is a reason that controls have gone solid state in industrial applications, the old mechanical and pneumatic systems were a maint nightmare and unreliable.

As a pro-gunner myself who lives in a country with plenty of anti-gunners to spare, it doesn't come across that way to me. His concern is real (albeit strongly worded), and there are some things that belong on motorcycles and some things that are best suited to other vehicles. I think the issue is, as I pointed out, we'll probably see manufacturers incorporate more of this stuff into their bikes, governments will legislate it, and we'll not have much choice left.

I love electronics as much as the next person, but I sometimes wonder about it. I wouldn't mind ABS, although I should be able to service it myself without relying on a dealer with a Digital Technician to help me bleed the ABS brakes. That's probably the limit of my "safety features" here, otherwise I'm better off driving a tank.

Drivers are becoming dumber because they're relying too much on the technology in their cars. Naturally if and when it fails (cue self-driving cars killing children at a whopping 10km/h) it's panic time. Smartphones have completely engulfed peoples' lives. Ever wonder why Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs (when he was alive), and other big tech CEOs limit their kids' screen time? Tech has its place, but there is such thing as too much of a good thing.
