Default Another afflicted SE A/C setup

I read with interest about the problems many of you had with your SE air cleaner developing holes in the filter medium, as well as Gronk's experience with a warped backing plate.
When removing my SE setup to put on the Big Sucker and round cover, I noticed that I, too, had both the pinholes and the warped backing plate. I am steamed!
When I get back, I will contact Harley and, fully expecting to be 'blown off' by them, request that they provide me with dealer credit for the cost of the SE kit. I don't want a replacement of that POS!

Kim

Yeah....I notice my S/E A/C backing plate was a little warped when I took it off to install the Ness A/C. I looked at the filter and it didn't have any holes in it.
Keep us posted on what you find out.

Where did you guys purchase the Big Sucker? Was it the model for the sportster and is it round? Every place I have found it, it says the oem cover will fit, I assume it is the round oem that will fit.??

You can add one more to the growing list. Mine is maybe 2 months old, took it off today and full of holes. I sure don't want a replacement POS. Anybody using a dragtron 2 air filter? Thinking about ordering one. There round and the filter is encased in a heavy stainless steel mash. They look good!

Add me to the list. Mine was hole city after just 2k miles. I don't want a replacement either, but would be interested in hearing what they tell you Kim.

I forgot to add that there was also about two tablespoons worth of oil sitting in the bottom of my SE AC when I removed it to install the round btwin ac.

I wonder how we would best go about bringing this to HD's attention.

Its obvious these are not just isolated incidents..the 04/05 sreamin eagle air cleaner is a total peice of crap!

I don't want a replacement for mine either..but it would be nice to get the $280 back that I payed for this rubbish.
Yep thats how much we pay for 'em down under

The thing I really want the most is to help prevent any more of our Sportster riding brothers and sisters wasting their money on this junk in the first place.

If sales drop dramatically maybe HD will pull their heads outa their arse and take notice, and hopefully dramatically improve the quality.

The pre 04 SE A/C's were a great product. Bring 'em back I say!!

I used it for a while then sold it to my buddy when I got a Doherty Machine A/C. I liked it and my buddy loves it.
A word of warning though. Don't use the wire mesh/foam element that comes with it. It doesn't breathe very well. Replace it with a K&N lifetime element. The Drag Specialties Catalogue has them listed together.

They are threads that stay at the top of each forum area so they are easy to find without having to do a search.

Here is an example.
