IMO, is a Buell a Harley? No. Is it an HDMC machine? Yes. A Sierra is not a Chevrolet but it is a GM.

I would argue that analogy is off slightly.

Harley is both GM AND Chevy in that example.

Not a single Buell was built in a H-D plant, the VIN number said it. Was built in Troy. 1HD and 5HD are The Moco number. 4M is what model in the H-D world. Just read a registration and no mention of H-D anywhere, a Buell is a Buell.

This doesn't seem like something worth debating. I'm posting in response, however, so I'm just as bad. I had a Buell S3. It had a Sportster engine. I liked it a lot. It said "Buell" on the tank. Let's debate over whether a Pantera is a Ford or a Porsche 914 is a Volkswagen.

BTW, I have no idea what 'definately' means.

There's a silly thing to be sorry about.

Every year people admit they were wrong and didn't understand, like how Buell was owned by Harley and therefore defacto was a "Harley" (ok, maybe you would use the quotes on the badge).

You know what's sadder?!?

How Harley woke up a decade later and realized, holy crap we could use products like Buell wanted to build right about now.

Hey but at least the new Softails are awesome.

Oooooooohhhh maybe I should have put a Buell badge on my FLHP instead of the bar and shield, ya know, just to piss off the normals.

While they are not registered as Harleys, I consider mine as one (even though it is a lowly Blast) as it has the Harley Davidson as a parent company. You did after all go to a HD dealership to purchase one, if you financed it you'd most likely be paying HD, and for the most part Harley's Sportster was as close to the Buell lineup as you could get without being one. These points along with the R&D that have helped HD to make better bikes make my belief even more strong. Then again I also consider the Spaghetti Harleys as true HD products even though they were made in Europe.

Is this nonsense still going one? For better or worse, if you bought a buell, you have a buell. It's that's simple. Geezus H ******. Put it to bed.
