Default Screaming eagle street tuner afr?

Hi,
I am new to the forum. I have searched but I can’t find the answer to this question. I loaded the stage 1 map and have done about 10 live tunes. I am still getting decal pop in the low range below 2500 rpms. I would like to add some fuel in that range at 0 throttle but the software doesn’t let me adjust the AFR. It only allows VE changes. I have maxed out the VE limit in those ranges and still have decelerations pop. I have checked for exhaust leaks and there are none. Running Vance and Hines straightshots with quiet baffles and big sucker. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks bike is a 2017 48

This is the problem with "street" tuners. They're meant to be EPA compliant and in the EPA test areas they won't make changes.

Sorry to sound negative but that's why there are "street" tuners and "race" tuners. "Race" tuners can do more not being expected to be EPA compliant.

I also have a 2107 but with a Power Vision. What it gives you access to is impressive, much more than I expected.

So, I need to spend another $400 to get a tuner that will eliminate decel pop.

You can't buy the good SE Race Tuners from HD anymore since the EPA b!+chslapped them with a multi million dollar fine for selling them a few years back. Unless you find one online but be care what you're buying!
I got lucky and found a good one for carbed models a year ago for the ignition for like $100.
All HD sells now is street legal so go aftermarket.

I wish I hadn’t already blown $400 on the Harley tuner. Seems crazy to spend another $400 to tune out decel pop.

Who told you the SE Street Tuner was a good idea?

V&H usually will have some decal pop. It is not necessarily a bad thing anyway unless it seems pretty severe. If you can't get it with the SE tuner, you can take it to a shop to be tuned, buy the Power Commander or live with it.

You might have better luck without the quiet baffles.

I actually like it.

Who sells them? That be my guess. Not that it matters at this point.

Decel pop or not, your motor is still not optimally tuned. Its tuned to the point of meeting EPA requirements. That's not the best it can be. So you're not technically spending another $400 to just cure decel pop. Look at it that way.
But If the street legal tune is good enough for you, or you feel a better tune isn't necessary and you're happy with the street legal one, then a little decel pop is nothing.

The HD Stage 1 tune is not EPA certified for your V&H exhaust.

The EPA controlled range is generally under 4500 rpms and below ~25-30% throttle on Sportsters.

You could increase the ignition timing in the 25 KPA map region on the cylinder popping in the rpm range it occurs.
I believe the SE Street tuner allows about +- 4 degrees of ignition timing change.
(varies some in different cells)
(DynoJet suggests starting with +3 degrees in the popping area)
http://www.powercommander.com/downlo..._DECEL_POP.pdf

One other option would be to lean out the VE at the 0% throttle range on the popping cylinder.

You could try the stage 2 tune, the VE values are higher in the 0% throttle range.
The rest of the area may not be close enough since you do not have the cams or the correct exhaust.

I just had my 5000 mile service and overheard this conversation at the service counter....
HD Service Writer to guy wanting slip-ons: "If you buy slipons you have to buy the SE ECU. you can only put the SE Tuner on the bike, then we can re-map it for you if you have SE slip-ons. Anything else will void your warranty immediately. The price for the tuner and re-map is $1000".

I almost choked...

He went on to say that ANY ECU will void your warranty and put you out of EPA regs. I live in the state of Commiefornia where CARB compliance is a whole other issue. Since i have an aftermarket air cleaner, I am not not EPA or CARB compliant and technically could get a citation and bike impounded...

Sucks. 1 more year my warranty is up, then it's V&H FuelPak & Cobra 2into1.
