Thanks again. guys. I'm going to take the advice after reading some of those pages in that article and try going bigger. I'll let you know what happens.

My 76' XLH has the original butterfly Keihin w/ OEM air cleaner & exhaust. Runs well w/ a 1.40 MJ & a 0.95 pilot. Local independent V-twin shop had some jets for these old carbs in stock.

I've decided I'm spending WAY too much time on this carb. I have 3 like new S&S carbs sitting on the bench and I'm going to put one on. I had the Keihin lying around and figured I'd give it a go but like I said..... too much time. LOL

Just reporting back on this. I landed up having to go smaller on both jets with the S&S E and am running a .0265 intermediate and a .066 main. The bike runs great with no flat spots , hesitation and any hiccups. Pulls hard to. 6K . Loving the bike!

he said it was 4 cycling or blubbering at wot which is not a sign of lean. lean screams and then falls, no blubbering, back the throttle and it takes off, another sign of lean.
when you drill a jet, it is not about opening the hole. i guess all of mr. hippy's mumbo jumbo on the oil pump has some application here. that hole to work correctly must be blended in and not have excessive tunnel in. when i have issues, i will usually silver solder the hole and lathe it up and drill to size and then radius the hole. important step is to install a backer into the jet to keep the solder positioned at the hole and not bleeding into the backside.
