Setting Timing w/ Electronic Ignition
My 1973 XLCH was converted to electronic ignition. It starts great ..hot or cold...but seem a little sluggish on the top end. I have the timing set to the rear cylinder dead on the double dots. Not sure if it should be advanced or what? Can it be set using a dwell meter??? Or is the timing mark setting adequate. I plan on chaging out the mechanical advance because not sure the old one is working as well as it should. The counter weighs seem to be free and functional...but not sure it is working at the higher rpms. Can anyone help or provide some advise.

time it the same way you would if it had points. unless the unit advances its self with out the weights moving. (we would need more info) I like the dial back timing lights using the TDC marks.
