1200 2009 won't start
so i laid my bike down going about 15 mph about 3 weeks ago. i was able to ride the bike back to my house after the lay down and checked it out. the only damage was some scratches to the saddlebags and the clutch lever broke off. i started the bike a few times while i waited for the new part to come in and it started up just fine. when i put the new part on i tried to start the bike and it wouldn't start up. it tried to turn over but couldn't quite get there on the first attempt. and then when i tried again i heard an aggressive clicking sound coming from underneath the seat somewhere. the lights flickered very quickly but i couldn't get it to start. the temperature outside was around 25 degrees. I'm hoping the bike was just too cold to start but does it sound like something different to anyone else? any input is greatly appreciated.

Ok that loud clicking sound is what my bike made when my battery finally gave out. My guess is that the connections may have loosened (Including your ground points) when you dropped it. Now granted I replaced the battery on my 09 about 6 or 7 months ago. You only get about 3 years out of these new batteries....Or so I'm told.
Just make sure your all your connections are wrench tight and check your voltage. Since purchasing my new battery I keep it on a tender continuously now.

Likely a connection is loose somewhere or the next option is low battery. But if I had to put money on it i'd go with loose connection.

Both issues. These are notorious for loose cables, and also the battery tends to go down after sitting. The cold won't help either! Check and clean and tighten the cables....charge the battery......and I promise it will start!
