My 76' XLH looks like it needs a new voltage regulator. It has a solid state unit. The green GEN lite comes on all the time now. Used to come on when at idle, then go out as RPM increased. The generator checks out @ 12.5 amps/2000 rpm. Battery not charging. Looked over the OReilly Master Pro voltage regulator link above. Showing terminal's for Ignition and Field. I assume IGN is to the BAT battery and FLD for the field terminal on the generator. Is there also another one for the GEN (A) terminal to the generator? My voltage regulator has 3 terminals.

I'm not sure what regulator the 1976 XLHs came with... (Solid State or Mechanical?)... and I don't know anything about the O'Reilly Regulator that Bustert linked to (two terminals or three?)... but I just checked BMIKARTS website and they're still selling the $10 Dixie (Delco knockoffs) Regulators said to replace Harley-Davidson # 74510-634 and Delco # 1119614 for 1967-77 Sportsters...

https://www.bmikarts.com/12V-Voltage...er_p_5416.html

These Dixie Regulators have the same three terminals as the OEM Delco regulators. I was a little leery at first as they don't seem to be readily adjustable; but I put one on my 73 XLH and it's been working well for me!
