Angry Chrome Peeling off of 1200C Tank Emblem!

Has anyone else noticed the Chrome peeling off of their tank emblem? I noticed mine after have the bike for about a month. Showed it to the stealer and they order a new part, however, it seems strange that this would even happen in the first place!

Chances are the badge is plastic and something got into the backside and
discolored it. Is the other side the same ??

Just a guess.
