Default Furthering the Apes / Riser discussion

So as a taxi clipped my parked bike last night I now have the chance to put some new bars on the bike ( as well as the laundry list of other crap on order thanks to this bulls@*t taxi driver, who fled the scene by the way)

I am set on apes but the riser is coming into play now. I have a 1200c and know that the riser is going to play a key role in choosing a height.

The shop I am using (I am not quite the confident wrencher yet) suggested an 8 or 10 with the stock riser - I am looking for that total height (12-13 inches total) but not with the riser they way it is. I know that all the wire housing is behind the riser and have seen a number of 1200c' s with out the riser and nice 12-16 inch apes on.

My question is this - how hard is it to relocate all those wires? i saw a post about explaining some of it - but again my wrenching skills are limited. Is this something that is gonna break the bank if I ask a shop to do it for me?

Thanks for all the help in advance.

You don't have to reroute the wires, the just become more exposed. If you use a short riser you won't really see them. You can run the hand control wires inside your handle bars fairly easily. The most difficult part of the project is probably lenthening the wires but if you can handle a soldering iron and some shrink wrap that is cake as well.
