Default derby cover leak

Is It possible to bend the bottom of the primary cover? I went down on the left side destroyed the derby cover. I can not get the new one to stop leaking. I cant tell if the primary cover is damaged an this is the reason it keeps leaking? The primary definitely hit the road hard. thanks

I don't see how you could bend the cover, crack it maybe, but not bend.
Check for a possible hair line crack near the derby cover bolt holes. Might show itself by tightening a bolt in without the cover.
... worth a try anyway.

Put your new derby cover on a piece of glass to make sure it's flat. If it is, then double check the derby gasket for cuts and abnormalities. If it's not one of these, you may have slightly folded in the bottom of the opening, where you hit, and you'll have to replace the primary cover. Bending it back will just crack or fracture the aluminum case.

See arrow, some call it a derby cover gasket, but I believe the proper name for it is quad ring.
