I've got one with adapters with different thread diameters/pitch/reach and schrader valves in the very end so they don't alter the trapped volumes and a certified gauge I can check the tester gauge against if I'm in doubt. Reliable cranking pressure reads are essential if you're building for performance.

If you're just a parts replacer and tune by internet consensus I guess there's no need to "read too much into cranking pressure".

I have the trusty Snap-On gauge I purchased new in 1978.

I needed a slim 10mm adapter on a weekend and bought that POS Horror Fright gauge. I tested an ST1100 and it showed 115-125 psi, with a different reading when tried on the same cylinder.
(At least I knew there wasn’t one cylinder dramatically different than the others, but...)

Later after getting an adapter, the Snap-on gauge measured 190-195 PSI and repeated.

If the cranking pressure sucks chances are the engine combo does too.

Sure gives you an idea where there's easy power to be had. The math says I need 10.5:1 static to get my cranking pressure up to 205 psi. My Xmas present to me may be a 10.5:1 1275 kit this year.

My R9T is 12.0:1 static. I'll have to see what its' cranking pressure is when I do its' (slightly overdue) valve clearance check and put in iridium plugs.

I think my heads are now like 80-81CC and I had to go .500 domes with the 600 cams to get the cylinder pressure up

30 degree squish bands? They do show up as large "chamber" volumes the way we measure. This is an old design (mid '80's EVO big twins) with a lot of included valve angle. It's a modified hemi with their issues.

I doubt this engine will make it to the 2021 models. With the leade times involved that's been decided, just not announced. One way or the other.

My R9T is the traditional boxer opposed twin but with modern 4 valve OHC heads. 120 RWHP with just headers and muffler and a flashed ECU. Otherwise stock. Interestingly it has the same 4" bore, 3" stroke the late 60's Z28 302 had.
