Raised White Lettering on spoked Nightster Help!
I need a new front tire. I want: Dunlop 491 Elite II with the raised white lettering. I only see this on mag wheels.
Cannot for the life of me find out if this can be mounted on the spoked wheel. I don't see why not, as long as the sizes match right? I vaguely recall discussion on whether a radial can be mounted on a spoked rim... I know I need a tube.
But try finding a simple picture of this tire on a spoked wheel!
Any thoughts? It's an 08 Nightster, by the way.
100/90 19.
Any help is appreciated. I'd like to have the tire in hand when I take it in and just have the stealership mount it instead of having to order through them.

If the tire is the right size it'll work. As you said, you'll need a tube. Raised white lettered tires are real hard to find. I think the pen stick hand painted ones usually look like shit. I wish more manufacturers would, once again, start offering these.

Thanks for the confirmation, Dude. I've always thought they looked cool, but I'm not sure how they'd look on anything other than mag wheels. That's all I've ever seen them on. Guess I need to find a buddy with photshop!

You could also look at pic's from the sixties and early '70's. They use to be much more common.

Looks great.
I am also a fan of RWL. Have them on now but am switching back to Metzler 880 after these are done. You're right, more tire manufacturers should sell them. To me they just look more aggressive and old school.

Gotta say that that Dunlop sure looks 'right'.
The Bridgestone S11 is also a RWL and a bit cheaper (25%?) than the Dunlop. Also, it's a Bridgestone and not a Dunlop. The Bridgestone reviews speak to their handeling and performance whereas the Dunlops are all about how good they look. Tough call. You decide.

I'm sure i'll look at others next time around. I'm not much of a branded guy anyway. And after the hassle at the indie shop just to get dude to order this tire, I'll deal with it. But that's another story for another part of the forum.

You could always order them yourself and have someone mount them.

That was the plan, but I figured that since I walked in a week before I took the bike in for the 10K, I'd just have him order the tire and it would be there ready to get slapped on. I hadn't realized at the time that the guy was not all that bright when it came to ordering stuff.
Like Vonnegut stated numerous times: So it goes.
