Default Adding second brake caliper to 99 buell x1

hey everyone. my x1 is close to completion and it will defiantly have more power. I noticed my left front fork is ready for another caliper to mount up. is there a special left side caliper? what do I do for break lines. does anyone know any model tube frame models that has dual front breaks?

I don't know of any that came with dual disks. From what I have read there aren't many left side calipers out there specifically made to bolt on.

none of the 1992 and up Buells came with left side brakes from the factory. There was a special race kit made for S2s with a PM caliper but it is very rare and very expensive. I have one but it is not for sale.

That is pretty accurate. As NRHS said, the dual disk kits are nearly impossible to find, and sell for a heck of a lot more than you want to pay.

Why do you need a second disc?

If your stock front brake setup isn't good enough, you may need a rebuild and new pads. It is rare that Buell owners ride hard enough to complain about only having one disc.

For looks though, I can see wanting a dual setup.

I believe that it's worth the investment in my case as I am turning this into a race bike. Stripping down everything and improving anything. I am very used to one brake and it's fine. But under extreme heat and duress from intense braking on a track course may be to much for just one. Twin motorcycles makes a kit I am looking into. Upgrades to dual brembo

Has anyone ever used or known anyone who has used TwinMotorcycles dual front brake kit? It comes with New everything and bolts right up. I think I am going to buy it. I know I could always switch front ends but im not sure of what the front end would cost. plus then I need a new triple tree.
opinions please. I will not purchase any of these mods until the bike is running and dyno tuned so we have time

Another thing to think about is if your hub is taped for a rotor. The photo I posted in your other thread shows the aluminum adapter plate . Mine uses a nissan caliper If you would like I can try to find a part # and get photos of the adapter plate and you could fab one up.
